DANIA BEACH, Fla: Feb. 1, 2010, the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee honored four football players involved in a fatal boating accident in February 2009 off Clearwater. NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith and former University of South Florida player William Bleakley died after their boat capsized in rough seas in the Gulf of Mexico. Nick Schuyler, also a former USF player, was the lone survivor. Schuyler thanked US Coast Guard Rear Admiral Steve Branham and the CG crew that rescued him after three days while addressed a fundraising auction at the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame. Nick went on to stress the need for boaters to purchase an EIPRP Emergency Beacon. All proceeds from the auction will go to charitable foundations chosen by the victims' families and Schuyler.
