The suspect behind an utterly nightmarish carjacking in Layton, Utah that saw him drive off with young children inside of the vehicle eventually dump them in a parking lot has been identified by police as 26-year-old Tyler Allen Williams.
Gripping surveillance footage released by the police shows the moment when Williams bull-rushed an unsuspecting couple as they loaded their children into their car. Williams can be seen briefly scuffling with the mother and father before gaining control off the vehicle and speeding away, the mortified parents sprinting after him.
A woman who lived in a nearby apartment building could hear the mother screaming, “I want my kids back!” from inside her home as the father fought with Williams. Authorities stated that the culprit has multiple outstanding warrants and was running away from a police officer at the time of the incident.
Williams drove the stolen vehicle to a nearby parking lot, where a different surveillance feed showed him remove a 3-year-old and an infant from the car and set them on the ground before once again speeding off.
Bystanders rushed to care for the children and called police, who reunited them with their parents without the children sustaining any harm.
Despite an intensive search effort by local police, Williams remains at large, and authorities have encouraged residents to notify them immediately if they have any knowledge of his whereabouts.
