Three Cops Got Fired For Excessive Force After Their Police Chief Saw This Video

Three Massachusetts police officers were fired late last year for using excessive force against a suspect that was already in custody, and now authorities have released surveillance footage of the incident for the world to see.

Last October, Agawam police announced that Sergeant Anthony Grasso, Officer Edward Connor and Officer John Moccio had been terminated in relation to their three-on-one beat down of 27-year-old David Desjardins of Connecticut.

Desjardins was arrested for becoming belligerent at a Six Flags amusement park bar after the bartender stopped serving him. At the time, the officers claimed that he continued to act violent when they tried to take him into custody, arguing that their use of force was necessary.

Police Chief Eric Gillis, however, now contends that the latest surveillance footage is clear evidence to the contrary.

While the officers will not face any criminal charges in relation to the incident, Mayor Richard Cohen has stood by their October firing. All three have indicated that they will appeal Cohen’s decision at the earliest opportunity.

What do you think? Do you think the cops should have been fired or did the police chief overreact?
