Pop Can Explodes In Fire

Posted by Jarose89 on Aug. 21, 2012

While on a rafting trip on the Deschutes River, we entertained ourselves by exploding pop cans in the fire. HOW THIS WORKS- The heat of the fire boils the pop and the steam is produced. It explodes due to the extreme pressure. The top of the can will completely or partially disconnect from the can. It will take off like a rocket if the can is placed upside down and I have seen reach heights of about 30 feet. However in this video the fire was not stable so when the pop can tried to take off it just blew up the entire fire. The bottom of the can will expand JUST before exploding. TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
