Dashcam Video Of Deadly Police Chase In Oklahoma Following Civilian's Tip

Dramatic dashcam footage out of Oklahoma shows the moment when a high-speed police chase resulted in the death of an escaped suspect after he lost control of his vehicle and ended up crashing into a semi truck, perhaps intentionally.

The incident began as a particularly unusual situation: a civilian vehicle pulled up next to an Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) agent who was parked in the median of Interstate 40 and revealed that a driver in a white vehicle had blown out their window with a firearm.

As other motorists began to report similar occurrences happening to them, the OBN decided the apprehend the culprit, a decision that resulted in a breakneck pursuit down the highway.

The video shows the ill-fated motorist losing control of his vehicle as he attempts to exit the highway. John Douglas Hayes, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hayes’ death determined that he was carrying multiple weapons and was suspected of previous shootings. The driver of the semi truck was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but reportedly escaped anything more than minor injuries.
