  @Nwordjim Actually, no,it looks more like he "stalled" the pole, overloading it rather than transforming his momentum upward... snaps can also be caused by cavalier vaulters dropping or nicking their poles, or them getting smacked by track cleats. I think every vaulter's probably broken at least one pole in their vaulting career...

Ouch... I quit pole vaulting in Highschool after watching another guy snap a pole and a piece of the fiber glass caught and ripped through his leg...

He's not an unlucky idiot Break... if you knew shit about vaulting you'd know that the reason the pole broke is because the guy is too strong for it. I've broken 4 poles vaulting because I out-grew them.

sometimes that shit just happens because the pole isnt made right, but since it only snapped in two pieces and it broke near the top, he probably spiked the pole the previous jump.
