Not fake. I have been near lightning and it sounds like that. At such close range the shock wave is ultra sonic (the hissing sound before the boom) and the bang is the shockwave reflecting off of nearby buildings. It has to travel many miles before it turns into a rumble.

only reason I say its fake, is because A no dirt/dust was kicked up from the ground, B from 20 feet away you would have felt a good shock, C the "boom" happens a half second after the hit when it should happen at the same time if you are that close , and LAST! but not least..... I have heard that sound effect before....FAIL!
