The shadow is fake. At one point he hangs on with his left hand to the back of a pick up truck and the other times he is being pulled by a tranparent fishing line.
So he show us that nobody is in front of him, then we cut to a shot taken from about 20 feet in front, where the "jet" is just as audible as the close-up.
