Dan Grilo was terminated from his job after his sickening tweet blasting Navy SEAL widow Carryn Hill went viral.
“Sorry, Owens’ wife, you’re not helping yourself or your husband’s memory by standing there and clapping like an idiot. Trump just used you,” Grilo tweeted.
Grilo was referring to the scene at President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress when he recognized the sacrifice of William Owens, who lost his life during a counterterrorism raid in Yemen last month.
Carryn, who was seated in a balcony spot next to Ivanka Trump, closed her eyes and looked heavenward as tears streamed down her face and the audience honored her husband’s memory with a standing ovation.
Grilo apparently thought this heartwarming moment was fair game for a partisan attack, but his employers begged to differ. Even though he quickly locked his Twitter account and deleted his LinkedIn, Grilo could not hide from his words from the enraged people of social media.
Liberty Advisor Group, Grilo’s employer, posted a Tweet denouncing his remarks: “An inappropriate Tweet by a Liberty employee last night does NOT reflect the views of Liberty Advisor Group,” it read.
“Regardless of whether the comments in the tweet were intended to cause the hurt and anger that they ultimately generated, they were unacceptable to us, and the individual who issued the tweet is no longer affiliated with Liberty,” the company continued in an attached statement.
