A Massachusetts firefighter displayed an impressive amount of calm in a potentially dangerous situation when he rescued a 2-year-old boy from a car that became partially submerged in flood waters.
The Chelsea Fire Department was called to the scene of the perilous situation on Sunday morning, when the victims found themselves trapped in their car with the water reaching just below the windows.
A woman was able to escape from the car, while a man who suffered from a previous knee injury needed some help to get out. The toddler, however, had to be carried through the waist-high water by Firefigther Bryan Bermudez, who donned a water rescue suit and navigated the murky conditions.
According to local officials, this particular street has a history of flooding during heavy rains. It’s unclear how the driver wound up in such a sticky situation, but it appears that they simply misjudged the depth of the water and plowed right in.
No injuries were reported.
