A chaotic fight broke out inside of Detroit’s landmark American Coney Island restaurant, a tourist attraction in the city’s downtown area that is popular with locals as well. Surveillance footage shows fists and chairs flying as two groups of men brutally attack each other.
According to police, the incident took place at around 3:00 am on January 8. An unidentified group of men came into the restaurant and began physically harassing a group of women who had been waiting to use the restroom.
That’s when a 19-year-old man and a team of restaurant employees banded together to fend off the attackers. However, one of the men, who can be seen wearing a burgundy-colored shirt in the clip, pulled out a firearm and shot the teen before the entire group fled.
The victim suffered a non-fatal injury and is said to be in good condition as of this week.
Authorities have described the shooter as a black man in his early 20s who was wearing a black and red baseball cap, red polo shirt, blue jeans, and black and white gym shoes.
Now, the owner of American Coney Island announced that she will hire off-duty cops in order to prevent any such incidents from happening in the future.
