Helpful Police Officer Helps Convince Girl To Say Yes To Prom Invite

A South Carolina teenager came up with a brilliant way to make sure that his dream prom date agreed to go with him to the dance: have a police officer threaten her with jailtime if she refuses.

Okay, that’s not actually what happened. St. James High School junior Dakota Brown got a Horry County police officer to pull over his girlfriend, Remi Hargrove, and give her a fright.

“We got a report there was a guy and a girl fighting in a white Jeep that left the high school just a minute ago. It wasn’t you two?” the officer asks. When Hargrove timidly denies that she and Brown were fighting, the cop asks him to step out of the vehicle. That’s when they decide to give Hargrove a “ticket” that is actually an invitation to the dance.

When Hargrove reads the fake citation, her relief is palpable.

“Oh my gosh! I was so scared,” she says, smiling. “Oh my goodness. How did you do that?”

The cop-turned-wingman, who captured the sweet exchange on his bodycam, lets the young lovebirds do their thing. “Alright, you’re all set,” he says like a true bro.
