Every spouse’s worst nightmare came true for this Indian news anchor when her young husband died in a car accident. To make matters even more heartbreaking, though, Supreet Kaur learned of her husband’s fate on live television as she was presenting the news of the crash that killed him.
Kaur is a popular news presenter from the eastern state of Chhattisgarh who works for the IBC24 network. On Saturday, the 28-year-old was on the air when breaking news came through the wires about a car crash resulting in multiple fatalities.
Kaur gave the cursory details surrounding the incident, but when she cut to a reporter who had more details of the scene, she realized that her husband, Harshad Kawade, was among the casualties. The reporter did not list the three victims by name, but Kaur knew that he would have been traveling on that road with multiple friends in the same type of vehicle that was identified.
Despite the unspeakable tragedy, Kaur managed to finish reading the headlines for another ten minutes before the studio cut to a commercial break. She then broke down into tears.
Now, coworkers and fellow journalists have praised Kaur for her incredible composure and expressed their sorrow for her sudden loss.
