no body was killed.. both pilot and gunner broke their femurs and the pilot broke his wrist and shoulder.. The maneuver is called a return to target, and it gets used all the time.. slight pilot error in that he didn't judge for being at 9500' msl.
Wow, some of you are just mean, hateful people. Keep in mind that what you see is a combat maneuver called "return to target." You cannot determine from this video alone if this was showboating (which would warrant charges), pilot error (which could warrant charges), or mechanical failure (which could also warrant charges if negligence is found to be the cause). Why don't you uninformed, military hating, ignoramuses stop posting to these sites as if you have a clue to reality and wait for t
If you think about it, that is only 10 cents per person in the US. If everyone would stop popping out 18 kids and getting a TV show from it, then this loss might be more substantial as our population might get back to where it should be.
Ok, this is not showing off and getting squirrely with dad's car and wrecking it. This is showing off with a $38,000,000 military vehicle. AND we taxpayers are paying for that. What assholes.
fuck you you commie bastard. move to afghanistan and get in front of my platoon and you can see how appreciative you will become. your minimum wage paycheck is not paying my. just because you are too cowardly to serve this great nation and have no respect for those that do shut your pansy mouth. you better be gd grateful that this war is not being fought on your city block because you would cry your sorry ass to sleep every single night you sack of dog shit.
Here's the deal. Our pilots are over encumbered by safety officers. Look at the lessons learned from Vietnam. I agree that these boys screwed the pooch but lets take heed of our history and remember how Robin Olds would have handled it. Those men have spirit. But A SERIOUS slap on the wrist is in order, But not the ending of their careers.
I agree. So you wrecked one...who cares. Ben Bernanke can print as much $ is needed to "buy another one." These guys have balls. Give them another Apache. Now they know its limitations.
it just goes to show you what a "great" country we live in when you are almost killed and the government worries about and presses charges for the helicopter
For those of you that don't know, when these helicopters undergo any sort of extensive maintenance, the pilot (sometimes with a Crew Chief), take them on Maintenance Test Flights. This includes hard banking, low level passes, and serious elevation changes. While I'm sure the pilot doesn't mind showing off to the ground pounders, don't be so quick to assume that it's purely showing off.
Be funny. Don't be mean. We may remove comments that cross the line.
Stupid americunts, are being sued for their services.
I hope the pilot enjoyed that ride, because it's his last one ever. He and his lawyer will be working hard to stay out of Leavenworth.
watch the poor bastard at 0:24 get clobbered by the tail. but yeah, nobody on the ground got injured.
The tail rotor missed him, chief. But I'm sure he had a load in his pants after that one, who wouldn't?
My aunties friend makes £45 an hour being being a smelly pirate hooker. She also breaks helicopters with Latin American sing song.
well my brothers sister makes one million an hour just doing nothing.scam much!
If an afghan ak could even hit an apache, whoever fired it would be lit up like Christmas before the bullet hit.
Meanwhile in the united states...

And this comes out of our paychecks...

As though the entire screen being a clickable banner wasn't enough, I have to watch 30 seconds about some shitty crab cakes before watching the video.
"Watch this"...
hold my beer!
Not as good as french pilots.....
Tell me that crash didn't change the pilot and crews lives forever!
Hey it's snowing in Afghanistan

YES!

it just goes to show you what a "great" country we live in when you are almost killed and the government worries about and presses charges for the helicopter
HEY!!!! HOLD MY BEER!!!!
Nah, don't like the way it fly's , might wait for next years model . Thanks for the test flight though.

It's called flat hatting and you lose your wings for it. Especially when people almost get killed. Former USMC Pilot.
Do they take your avatar when you're discharged?
i would love to read anywhere in the MTPs checklist where it says to do a low pass on a maintenance operational check.
Thanks for the info. Puts the vid in a whole new light. Well at least they are OK.
why would you fly a helicopter like its an extra 300 stunt plane ?!?
well, when you are used to being a pansy at 4-5k AGL, being close to the ground can be downright dangerous for those not used to such conditions.
"watch this!!!!"
OK, I'm watching.
"Both pilots survived the crash and no one on the ground was injured..." - bullshit
