the last pipe at the end, otherwise you simply appear in the other pipe room. (i think you are not supposed to hit the 1-up in that room either) 1-3 : a joke, just ran through. 1-4 : Took ALOT of time at the boss.. kept dying to his stupid lightning-fast fireball. got lucky in my last attempt when i kept out of his vision till i landed in front of him and hence could reach the hammer =) Ahh.
