They based the size of the fish of the size of the head of the fish.

  @perry125 no they calculated the tension in the line and figured out what equalizing forces were acting upon it and thus found the fish's weight.... how'd u want them to guess the size... lol

  @TheDroory the world record blue marlin was just caught and it was 1189 pounds, so 450 isn't exactly a "fish story" kinda number with these animals...if anything that's small.
