forgot to pause: anchors often start with a line like that before they say who they're talking about to get the viewers' attention. obviously people here who don't think they do that don't watch the news often.

I had to watch that three times: to realize how he screwed that up. It wasn't doctored. He just didn't pause correctly. Anchor people do stories like that all the time. Such as "he was run over by a car and left for dead, but little whitey a toy poodle was reunited with his owner today!"
