on a second note: Makes me wish I could go back in time and get myself a hefty sum of cash due to a gut exploded by products that I should never have been allowed to combine lol...

With as many people in the world that: drink coke and eat mentos, how is it possible nobody (or very few people) have had combined the two. Think about it. You remember the video of the guy supposedly blowing his up his stomach on a mento/coke dare... Why did this apparently never happen before the results of this combination were shown to the world. THAT is what i find odd about the whole coke/mentos thing.

@trip_03The liquid is Sprite Zero with blue food coloring: makes it easier to see the carbon dioxide bubbles being attracted to the surface of the Mentos inside the bottle

Actually: The fact that you should use diet coke DOES enhance the reaction. The mentos' have tiny crevices. In these crevices the carbon dioxide from the cola reacts and forms bubbles (were it was "desoveled" in the cola before), forcing the newly formed bubbles and cola out of the bottle. The aspartame and arabic gum contained in diet coke help speed up the reaction and give it a more significant result. If you would use regular coke the fountain would never become this large. Trust me, that's how it wor

    • mentostv

      mentostv - 2 years ago

@Offspring32390To make it easier to see: the carbon dioxide bubbles attach to the Mentos as they fall to the bottom of the bottle

Diet: The fact that it is diet soda has nothing to do with the reaction. The original coke and mentos video they recommended to use diet as it is not sticky when you get drenched in it, and less sticky on the floor (If you're doing it inside). Anyone know where to get that sleeve with the toothpick holes?

I thought it was gonna be just another Mentos and Coke thing, but: I was surprised to find Sprite and Mentos instead. The slow-mo is what really makes it worth seeing. The blue food coloring was a nice touch.

not bad: I was getting tired of the regular videos about this over-popularized 'experiment'. The slow motion does add a new aspect to it that makes the video worth watching.
