I got a hold of one of those "police special" LT-1 V8s: With tuning it made 523 HP @ 5800 RPM and 574 ftlbs of torque @ 5200 RPM. These blocks have 4 bolt mains with strengthened block webbing and larger oil galleries. I am about 3 weeks away from dropping it in my El Camino. Just waiting on trans, which is a beefed up TH200-4R with balanced and matched torque converter.

I managed to get a hold of one of those "police special" LT-1motors: After some cylinder head porting, roller hydraulic high lift cam, forged rods, pistons and a forged billet crank, teflon coated bearings, injectors, fuel system upgrade, oil system upgrade computer chip with ECU tuning and a small overbore, with blueprinting and balancing, it made 523 HP @ 5800 RPM and 574 ftlbs of torque @ 5200 RPM.
