How to make exploding arrows. This video shows the method but uses a very low explosive black powder charge. A much bigger bang can be achieved.

sorry to steal your thunder but im willing to bet that the powder never ignited. ive done the exact same thing except all that makes noise is the primer exploding. im guessing the carbon arrow begins to break before the primer can ignite the powder.
