Contrecoeur, Qc., In Memoriam

In 1871, hundreds of the poorest Italian immigrants died of disease and cold while building this segment of the Grand Trunk railway. Their bones are still found in the woods nearby where their bodies were tossed. The line opened ahead of schedule.
