this exact same thing happened to me: i talked to a person just like this one and after 20 min of arguing he finally agreed to cancel the account. later i called again to check on it , and the next representative told my my account was still active and had no signs or notes to be cancelled, the same thing happened 5 calls later. so i called the bank and requested to not give any money to aol. i still dont know why wont they just cancell the dam account. any way im good now but c'mon this is rediculous.

yeah aol are bastards: i just downgraded my aol account from 49.99 a month to the lower service of 19.99 a month. I received the downgrade in programming but did the price get dropped as well? noooo, i was getting charged 49.99 a month for the service they considered to be 19.99 a month and this went on for about 15 months...they owe me quite a bit of money

AOL: That excuse for an online service is nothing but a headache looking for a place to happen. When I cancelled they tried to get me to rent one of their used laptop computers (never mind the fact they were about to throw it away) When it comes to AOL the best thing everyone can do is return any mail they send because you will have some idiot milking your acct. every chance they get. I personally go through Yahoo to go online. Their workers main goal is to make the customer happy not swindle thm out of ev

If you were paying 25.90 a month for dialup, you deserve what you got.: Unfortunately I was laid off. Around Sept. 06 the name changed from America Online to AOL because they are no longer in america when they can have people in the middle east do the job for half price. Yes I would "fast talk" grandmas and make it difficult to cancel, but everyone that I "Saved" should have been smart enough to get there service from another company for less money and twice the speed. This was my job: I worked for Aol retention when this happened. This was not a bad call by our standerds. If it had not been on TV the guy might have just been spoken to about the "feeling is mutual" comment.

@thebigmatt customer service????: this call is not only shows a lack of customer service skills, but it also shows that all aol does is try and piss people off enough to make them hang up and just keep the subscription. This makes it the bottom feeder of the internet world.
