One of the most famous Teacher Sex Scandals is that of Mary Kay Letourneau and her affair with 13-year-old student Vili Fualaau. Mary Kay gave birth to two of Fualaau’s children while incarcerated. After she was released from prison in 2004, they married and Mary Kay took his name.

Debra LaFave, a 23-year-old teacher in Florida, plead guilty to statutory rape charges after having sex with a 14-year-old student in the summer of 2004. She was sentenced to three years house arrest and seven years probation. She was also forced to register as a sex offender.

Pamela Rogers Turner, a former Tennessee elementary school PE teacher and coach, had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student. After posting bail, Pamela was arrested on charges that she had sent text messages, nude photos, and sex videos of herself to the same boy while using her father’s cell phone. She was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 7 years 3 months probation. She will be set for release in January of 2015.

Stephanie Ragusa, a 28-year-old math teacher from Tampa, Florida, was arrested three separate times for having sex with two different underage male students, ages 16 and 14. Notably, she is remembered because in all three of her mug shots she bears a peculiar smile.

Pamela Smart is serving a life sentence for being an accomplice to first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and witness tampering in New Hampshire. Her 15-year-old lover, William Flynn, and three of his friends, conspired with Smart to kill her 24-year-old husband in 1990.

Lisa Lavoie, a 24-year-old teacher at an elementary school in Massachusetts, was suspected of a relationship with a 15-year-old boy. The student’s parents asked the school to investigate the relationship, but when school officials tried to question her, she and the boy disappeared.

More recently, Brittni Colleps, a 27-year-old English teacher and girls basketball coach in Texas, has reportedly been arrested for improper relationships with five of her male students. The students were all age 18 or older but state law makes it a criminal offense for teachers to have sexual relationships with their students.

In an April 2010 comedy sketch on the popular NBC show Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey portrays a teacher who has a crush on a student, played by 16-year-old Justin Bieber.
