Skydiving began in the late 18th century when some crazy guy jumped from a hot-air balloon with a parachute. The military uses skydiving to save aircrews from emergencies in flight and also as a way of delivering soldiers to the battlefield. It became an international sport in the 1950s.
A typical jump involves individuals exiting an aircraft and free-falling for a short period of time, depending on altitude, and then deploying a parachute to slow down the landing speed. Some skydivers have been known to use a wingsuit that has flaps sewn into it. These flaps help the skydiver glide through the air with more control.
A recent story circulating the internet involves 2 skydivers in California who engaged in skydiving sex while freefalling from a plane. Apparently the act was filmed and posted on an age-protected blog. There is an investigation underway to determine if the pilot was distracted by the couple.
