The expert team performs a series of science experiments to confirm or bust myths. They like to keep it fun by including things like explosions, firearms, vehicle collisions and crash test dummies. Some of their episodes have themes like pirates, ninjas, jailbreaks or sharks .

Many of their tests can be dangerous so they utilize high speed cameras to capture the results. There are some myths that even they won’t test. They will never test paranormal concepts like aliens or ghosts, or any experiment that would be harmful to live animals.

One of the more popular experiments featured on the show is the Diet Coke and Mentos stickiness.

In mid-2009, Kari Byron had to go on maternity leave. She was temporarily replaced by fabricator and Spike host Jessi Combs. At one point during Season 2 there were two “mythterns” on the show. Discover channel contest winners Christine Chamberlain and Jess Nelson fill these roles.
