The feat can be performed either while seated on a motorcycle or while standing beside it, the latter option often requiring the assistance of a second individual to prevent the motorcycle from spinning out of control. Additionally, a rider may opt to apply a flammable liquid, such as WD-40, to his or her rear wheel and then set fire to the wheel several seconds before performing a burnout; if executed properly, this procedure allows the rider to maintain the illusion of being the fictional demonic bounty hunter Johnny Blaze from the Marvel Comics series “Ghost Rider.”
