Cyrus is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. As a child she regularly attended church services and for a time wore a purity ring. In 2006, Cyrus made her television debut when Hannah Montana premiered on the Disney Channel. The show was an instant success and Cyrus became a household name among the young teen demographic practically overnight. She has since segued her career into music and film acting, achieving a significant degree of success in both ventures.
