Carey has sold over 200 million albums, singles and videos world wide. She married actor/comedian/rapper Nick Cannon (a much younger man) in the Bahamas in 2008. In 2010, the couple announced that they were pregnant. in April 2011, Mariah gave birth to fraternal twins, named Monroe, after Marilyn Monroe, and Moroccan Scott.
Carey has also ventured into the acting world, but somewhat unsuccessfully. Her film debut as the lead in Glitter won a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress in 2001. Glitter is usually the go-to when trying to come up with the worst movie ever.
It wasn't until the breakthrough film Precious that Carey got recognition as a great actress. She played a homely social service worker named Mrs. Weiss. Carey received several nominations for her performance.
