Police in Louisville are now coming forward with the details surrounding a police shooting that took place recently, an incident that left a man in the hospital with a gunshot wound. A concerned citizen called police to report that there was a man doing drugs in an abandoned house next door. She claimed that he was menacingly approaching neighbors and hiding out on property that was not his. When officers arrived, they checked the abandoned house but were unable to find any trace of the witness. That’s when things got violent. “One officer, a white female, observed a man hiding behind a mattress leaning up against a wall in one of the rooms,” police chief Steve Conrad said during a presser. “The officer ordered the man, a black male, to show his hands and then fired one shot, striking the man in the abdomen.” “The officers called for EMS and provided first aid while waiting for EMS to arrive,” Conrad added. The officer who fired the shot has been placed on administrative duty pending an internal investigation.
