Hockey Riots

Hockey is a brutal sport. When the gloves come off the punches start flying even among the greatest players in the world. But on occasion those punches extend into the crowd and a riot is born. Fans of the Vancouver Canucks had a similar reaction after this year’s Stanley Cup finals as is explained in the Newsfeed video below.

These insane fans proved that carnage is not limited to the ice and that the peaceful nation of Canada can riot with the best of them. Of course there are a few basic differences between a Canadian and American riot.
  • Canadians overturn smart cars and BMW’s.
  • Americans loot liquor stores, Canadians loot poutine and maple syrup.
  • Canadian riots begin and end at the scheduled times.
The Stanley cup riots of 2011 may be a rarity in Canada but sports riots are much more common than one would think. From soccer hooligans in Europe to riots in the stands at a Boston Bruins game as in the video below. These insane videos show just how violent people can be on the ice, and in the crowd.
