The true test of a gruesome video is whether or not it has the power to reduce grown men to tears. If a horrific clip doesn’t induce shock, then at the very least it should leave a person cringing for a couple of hours after getting the mental image stuck in their head. Grotesque videos can be gross, like in the “Cutting the Human Tongue” featured video, disturbing like car or motorcycle crashes that end in a gruesome broken limb. Some even consider a hit to the nuts to be a little gruesome. And every guy agrees that seeing Kathy Bates naked is the most gruesome of all gruesome things.

No one can be sure of why humans are so fascinated with gruesome and gory things, but plenty of psychologists have tried to figure out the answer. Some experts believe people like to watch gruesome videos because it gives them a sense of control. Others say humans are simply wired to be titillated by disgusting images. Americans rush to the theater to see the latest slasher flick or crowd around the computer to watch a gruesome viral video of someone breaking their ankle after falling off a skateboard (as seen below). A person knows they will probably regret watching gruesome videos, but they just can’t stop themselves.

There are a few rules to remember when viewing gruesome videos.

Don’t eat two hours before watching a gross video. Yes, this also applies to swimming.
Try to refrain from screaming like a little girl so that you don’t damage your reputation. No gruesome video is worth that.
The most important rule to remember - if the video description says “Kathy Bates Naked,” DO NOT click on it. There are some things eyes just don’t need to see.
