David Blaine has been captivating audiences with his illusions, magic tricks, and crazy stunts. Blaine’s interest in magic began as a child, and he has quickly become a household name in modern day illusion. Through television and the internet, video of David Blaine’s mastery of magic has spread quickly. He has done numerous publicized stunts from holding his breath underwater for seventeen minutes to encasing himself in ice for over two days. Blaine’s most recent publicized stunt, the Dive of Death, was performed in 2008 and can be seen in the featured video below.

David Blaine is not solely devoted to death defying stunts. He also performs a lot of street magic and card tricks that leave passersby puzzled. In the “Coffee Change” video below, Blaine performs a magic trick for a homeless man, turning his cup of coffee into a cup of money. Blaine is often compared to Harry Houdini, the famous magician who might have provided the inspiration for Blaine’s “Buried Alive” stunt. Like Houdini, David Blaine likes to challenge people to punch him in the stomach to test his strength. In 2008, David Blaine got Kimbo Slice, a famous MMA fighter, to punch him in the stomach, as seen in the “Kimbo Slice vs David Blaine” video.
