In February 2013 passengers aboard the Carnival Triumph were stranded in the middle of the ocean for 8 days after the ship’s engine room caught fire. They tell stories of sewage leaks in their rooms, food shortages and horrible smells throughout the ship.

A similar malfunction occurred on the Carnival Dream in March of 2013. Passengers reported power failures and were eventually flown home from St Maarten. A nother magic cruise from Carnival!

The Costa Concordia, an Italian cruise ship ran aground on a reef in January 2012 and fell over onto its side. The ship was half submerged in the water with 4200 passengers aboard. There were 32 people who died and 64 injured in the ordeal.

Another threat to cruise ships is pirates. A ship called Seabourn Spirits was about 100 miles off the coast of Somalia when pirates in speedboats attacked. They shot at the ship with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

Of course, everybody knows what happened to the Titanic. Poor Jack didn’t have a chance.
