they still have made a few comic strips, look up "hobbes and Bacon", its about Calvin's daughter and Hobbes.

Bill Waterson, the artist of C & H, never commercialized his comics and refused to. No merchandise, no tv shows, just the comics itself.

  @hobbitagain yep! loved his comics, but he (waterson) was a jerk. I wrote and asked for permission to use one (ONE) of his comics on a math handout for one class I was teaching and he said no. All I wanted to do was interject some humor into a subject most people don't care for. So, personally, I think the guy is a jerk.

Waterson explains why he quit the strip: He was being pressured from every angle to syndicate and commercialize against his will, all while dealing with piracy and copyright infringement, and it was more than he could handle. So he quit. He wasn't being a jerk, he just didn't want his life's work being used for advertising inane crap the way every other cartoon character has, which would have been inevitable if he h
