  US Armed forces...: Trivia fact; there's a bunch of non-naturalized Mexican immigrants getting their butts shot off for you and me in lovely locations like Afghanistan and Iraq. If the INS would get off their butts and process the ones who applied (often years ago), we wouldn't have as many "illegals" running around, and yes, this country was built by immigrants.

    @KnightflyerFirst of all.: You can't join the armed forces unless you are legal. The county was built by LEGAL immigrants that were patriotic. Being patriotic does not mean ILLEGALLY entering a country and demanding that you change the anthem that doesn't even belong to you in the first place. And there is a limit to the number of immigrants allowed each year. Thats why the INS doesn't let EVERYONE in.

    @Knightflyerlegal immigrants: key difference. those that went thru Ellis Island were screened for diseases and forced to learn english. these illegals are coming over to use the system and don't bother to learn english while at the same time likely spreading diseases that were already taken care of like TB and such.
