I don't think a garter snake is going to be dangerous xD Not to mention snakes don't get more aggressive when they are shedding, they simply cannot see well in turn making them attack anything that could be food or a threat. I've seen one of them attack a flower before while shedding just because it couldn't see well.

That snake are about to shed.. They shouldnt be handled then. They are more aggresive and you can mess up the shedding process
