  How about just banishing silly customs related to religion, then you have your equality. Why would you want to be a christian gay anyway? I have no beef with people being gay, but I really don't get this wish. Making a law doesn't suddenly make everyone think it's ok.

  The problem is, gays cry so much about being equal, being treated the same, when they chose a lifestyle purposely to be DIFFERENT than the norm. Then they cry about being treated differently. Duh... "I WANT TO ACT, THINK, AND LIVE DIFFERENT BUT BE TREATED THE SAME." -_-

   I don't understand what the gay marriage debate is all about. Equal choice? They have the same choice as any other man. Find a woman you want to marry or stay single. Just because you may not like the choices you are given doesn't mean they are bad choices. I don't like the fact that I have to go to work for 50+ hours a week. I'd rather spend that time with my family. My choice was to get a job or stay home (while I still have a home). Should I be protesting that being poor should somehow be illega

    @sid980Your logic is faulty. In your analogy, not marrying would be equivalent to staying at home. That's not the issue here. A better parallel, working with your analogy, would be if you were prevented from working as a lawyer (or whatever) because religious conservatives in your country had decided that it is entirely unnatural for people whose usernames start with sid to work as lawyers, arguing that throughout all time and all cultures (except for those cultures in which this is not true, which will be dis

  You're not going to marry anyone's daughter because you're gay. And what's so great about marriage, why do you need society to acknowledge what you are? Have your partner and you just agree that you're married, everyone else be damned.

    @uppercutterIts about the benefits of a legally recognized marriage: Taxes, insurance etc. And they have a valid argument, the government says they cannot marry because (religiously) marriage is between a man and a woman.... but what ever happened to separation of church and state? I don't believe they are asking to be married in a church.

    @uppercutterThey may not all be asking to be married in a church, however, there has to be a priest present to consider them married. Why would a priest with the knowledge that it is against the bible to be gay ever do such a thing I do not know. Marriage is a religious thing and if gays want to be together like a married couple just have come up with something else they could do and call it something else.

    @uppercutterYou do not need a priest, me and my wife were married by a mayor. And if it is strictly religious then why do we need marriage license etc? And why do you need to be married to have dependent benefits (insurance). With your logic, atheists couldn't marry either.

    @uppercutterre: uppercutter- Actually, there are those who feel compelled by homophobia to enter into a heterosexual marriage in order to "fix" their sexuality, under the mistaken belief that a "good [guy/girl]" is all that he (or she) needs to "leave the homosexual lifestyle" behiand. Ocassionally, there are some who seem to be able to make this sort of arrangment work, but often families built upon this sort of arrangement are destined to end in failure and heartache.
