Pennies are legal tender for all debts public and private, you cant ban them regardless of how much you want to.
ImDMilkman - 10 months ago
@Ninja000007Any private business can choose to deny service to anyone they want to, so if you came to them with all pennies, they can tell you to hit the road.

will you accept my Ass Pennies?
bigb03 - 10 months ago
And it costs 5.73 cents to make a nickel... Stopping the production of pennies means increasing the production of nickels... EVERY THINK OF THAT?

if they really wanna "help us out" they should ban US currency all together. the Federal Reserve is a Private bank who has the legal authority to print money out of thin air. then they loan it to other banks and our government with INTEREST. dumbasses
D1BonGo - 10 months ago
@jared8783 I guess ur the dumbass! EVERY country does it.... LOL!!! You are talking out of your ass on something u don't know about. It LITERALLY costs money to make money.... in EVERY country in the world. Yea it would help but I think a little thing like all the money other countries owe us should be a bigger priority then getting rid of a penny.

Sad thing is they cant do that... it is legal US Currency and they HAVE to accept it or face penalties
msbav8r - 10 months ago
@TheShiz2002Only for debts. US currency is 'legal for all debts, public and private.' It doesn't apply to purchases. Stores can set their own policy. That's why McDonald's can legally decline accepting $100 bills.
BearMonkey - 10 months ago
@TheShiz2002Coins are not considered legal tender. Bills are backed by gold reserves (or were at one point), whereas coins are worth the value of the materials from which they are made.
