Been there...: I, being a soldier, have had experience with camel spiders. The biggest one I saw had a legspan of about 3 1/2 inches, and we even saw one eat a small lizard. One or 2 guys DID get a bite, but they were antagonizing them, so they deserved it...oh yeah, not really venemous. They like the shade too. We'd park our trucks and one would skitter in at us...kinda creepy. Plenty in Iraq and Kuwait. Very mean looking, but not all that dangerous.

Spelling: Well first of all like I said before, it is something that you dont want to fuck with. And when you leave a comment make sure that you have the spelling right, you make yourself look like a total loser. Now back to what I was saying, camel spiders, big or small they can and will fuck you up.

spider: Camel spider. They aren't "that" big, if you look at his sleeve right next to them you can compare the sizes and this shows that those cmale spiders are not that big.

lmao: scorpion, lol..
Stupidy: Ok was reading the comments and started laughing, only dick heads who didnt have enough to do would argue if it was a camel spider or not. If you have been in the desert you know it is something that you dont want to fuck with.

shit: shit, stop saying those animals are venomous, fucking shut up when you think they eat camels or humans, stop saying camel spider is "the name the soldiers gave them", stop saying they are from the "iraqi desert", because they live in more deserts than just the iraqi one and really stop referring to family members or friends who are in the army and have seen one if you try to justify your post. Oh, and if you don't believe it, look up the article at wikipedia

Son of a bitch.: Why the hell is break.com so stupid? It is two camel spiders, not one scorpion which isn't spelled with an "a" anyway. Whoever writes the original comments is the dumbest bastard ever.

Camel Spiders: these r camel spiders which were a big threat to our soldiers in iraq a few years ago. they got there name because they can feed on a camel and eat through the stomach so far that the camels intestines will fall out. the would burrow into soldiers tents and hide in the bottom of sleeping bags. they have a numbing agent that is injected as they bite, so they would numb soldiers calfs and begin to eat through there legs. just thought id share...

spider: thats a spider not a scorpion
DJMeatstick - 2 years ago
the truth: "camel spiders" are actually solpugids which means scorpion like. they are neither spiders nor scorpions. they are called "camel spiders" not because they feed on camels but because they live in the desert. they have no venom in their mouth parts but could possibly contain a venom secreted through bristles associated with the mouth. and they live in iraq, mexico and yes, the us in places like arizona.

I read dumb people...: Once again...you are all fucking idiots. Read up a little bit, even if it's just from the comment page. It'll tell you all about camel spiders. Things like: they arent a hoax; or they have NO FUCKING NUMBING AGENT!!!For being such a developed society, there sure are a lot of stupid people...
will0mon - 2 years ago
2 things: 1.) These are "camel spiders" not scorpians. 2.) I'm pretty sure camel spiders are a hoax, they are not real. Not sure how they faked it but that's what I've heard.

Camel Spider: Cool fact about these things. They are called that because they usually feed on camels. They attach themselves to the bellies of camels and bite them. Their venom contains a numbing agent which allows them to feed on camels and the camels not knowing it. These things are a huge reason why soldiers check their boots when they wake up before putting them on. Hope this clarifies the whole debate :). And yes these are american soldiers.
