"Alot" is not a word as it is used here. The correct spelling would be "a lot."

Alot is a word, it is a hyperbole. Alot is also the name of the town in India where the Temple of Shiva is located, which is over 5000 years old. The word, Alot, is of Hindu descent. Never trust spell check, it will get you in trouble where nouns, verbs, and adjectives are interchangeable. Just sayin.
