I used to work for a fuel station service company. We did an experiment with cigarettes. We tried over and over to get a cigarette to light gasoline and we couldn't do it. Even swirling it in a cup to make "vapors" it wouldn't light. However, this tank is actually a "Healy" where the vapors go when you're fueling (mostly in California). This would NOT ignite from a cigarette, HOWEVER, it MIGHT if it had a leak.

The odds of actually blowing a sealed tank like that up are about a million times lower than the odds of him getting cancer, and hey the explosion is probably a less painful way to die
