That's funny! not to mention the process to manufacture the rubber on all those running shoes, let alone all the other synthetic clothing people are wearing and, unless they used electric cars, even natural gas vehicles generated pollution !

It's easy to generalize and assume this is bad for the environment, but the amount of awareness and pledges gained from this run far out weighs the amount of effort it takes the volunteers to pick up the cups.
