Canadians pushed back hardcore German troops in Italy and where told to hold back so American could roll into Rome for the cameras. The American people did not really want war but they were much needed for their war industry. Americans got to see the footage. Today Americans makes hats and their war industry make wars. Quit making hats like that.

I not going to say that America didn't start the WW but where's your proof? And what's that about never ending wars? Europe's last resort was Russia, and if they lost you would have been screwed.

  @RICGETSEMWET The Burning of Washington in 1814 was an incident during the War of 1812 between the forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and those of the United States of America. On August 24, 1814, after defeating the Americans at the Battle of Bladensburg, a British force led by Major General Robert Ross occupied Washington, D.C. and set fire to many public buildings. Here's my take. America was use to fighting a conventional war, ground troops, artillery, tanks and air support. The Vietnamese relied on guerrilla tactics, using the landscape as weapons. And you cant tell them apart from civilians, because there are no uniforms. I think Vietnam and Iraq changed the way wars are going to be fought from now on.

  @johnnym75 Incorrect. You have a good point about Vietnam and there are some similarities to Iraq, and war has definitely changed since then. But the similarities end there. The US Military is vastly superior to any other military in the world, and has been since Eisenhower (having a General as President will do that). However we are not destroying the enemy now because there is no clear objective. It's not black and white anymore. We are trying to kill the bad guys and make the not-so-bad guys take over to convin
