it is true: a lot of livestock haulers over here still do a similar thing but a bit more refined

  @Roadwolf Yep:: The dog boxes here are a bit more heavy duty by the looks of them and often there is a door that locks over the front to stop the dog sticking its head out.

  @bargil Yep. Alice Springs: , Port Augusta, other parts of SA and NT. Never seen it in Melbourne or Sydney, but seen it alot elsewhere. Often its with cattle trucks as well as sheep. I guess that's how the f#ck its a common sight.

I dunno about the rest of you: but that dog doesnt seem to be in the least bit uncomfortable to me. I mean, it could be shite-sight worse from the dogs' perspective.

Guys..: I never take the time to log in to post, but that's fucked up man. That dog can get hurt. I don't need to tell you how but I will. Like someone else said shit coming from the road, high winds in his ears and eyes, fumes.

Don't know about the rest of the world:: but that is a common sight in rural Australia. The sheep dogs ride in those boxes under the trucks full of sheep. That way the dogs can be out and working as soon as the truck stops.
