  People leave the stickers on their hats to prove that they are in fact real. For New Era's, which can get pretty expensive for the fitted hats, there are many cheap knock off versions you can get at flea markets and so niggurs and whiggurs have to prove to everyone that they can afford a $30 hat.

   The reason why people keep the sticker on is when you take off your hat you place your fingers on the sticker just in case your fingers are dirty and not leave any marks. P.S. You forgot to mention that you spend good 12 hours trying to remove the leftover glue from the cap after you remove the sticker and everything in the world still sticks to it and makes it dirty..
