After the accident Francesca’s skull had been fractured in five places, her jaw cracked and her nose had been broken.
Doctors had to scrape pieces of shattered bone from her brain after it crashed onto the floor.
‘I had just started going out with someone as well. We'd been seeing each other for a while and had just started going out that week. We were actually due to go on a date the night after the accident.’
It seemed quite obvious to me - I was clearly in a hospital and I had a massive folder with 'Francesca Burr' written next to my bed.’
‘They kept me like that until around the last week of January when they thought it was manageable, then I came round and they reduced the drugs.’
‘I won't ever be the same because my brain has had to change and is held together with metal pins, but I am so lucky that I have such incredible friends and family.
‘I have vague recollections of doctors and nurses coming in and out to check on me and asking weird things like 'do you know where you are?' and 'what's your name?'
‘At one point I also confided in my younger brother, who is also like my best friend, that I'd seen mum kissing a man who wasn't dad.’
‘I was in a coma for nearly a month and my brother said I looked like Frankenstein, which is quite funny considering I'm Francesca.'
