Millan was acting like an idiot. Yup, I'd have punched him, not the dog. The pup exhibited behavior that could very likely be worked with. By someone who knows what they're doing, unlike this boob. The point is not to provoke or dominate the animal, but gradually get it to *like* being approached and interrupted while eating. I did just that with a dog that was even more aggressive, who's now a pussycat. With the help of a board-certified veterinary behaviorist. Not a boob of a tv celeb.

Millan deserved that bite. A board-certified veterinary behaviorist (i.e., one who actually knows what they're doing) would NEVER have behaved the way Millan did here. But his goal here -- as usual -- was not to work with the dog properly, but to make entertaining tv by provoking it and acting cool. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists have long spoken out against Millan and his disturbingly poor, unscientific techniques. Such a shame he's a celebrity, as he fills people with too many awful notions and reinforces ignorance. He's not all bad, but his brand of dominance theory, intimidation, fear-based and punitive techniques is based on outmoded, poor notions. It is not scientifically sound. And some dogs and owners suffer because of it.

We just got back from the Carnival Dream and our excursion in Cozumel. Best time I've ever in Cozumel by far. The pools will fresh water, the swim up bar was divine, the food was even better than that on the ship, the bloody Marys were incredible, and I loved the adults only pool. Thanks for the great time and all of shots of Mexican gasoline!
