a sniper is anyone who is consealed. doesnt matter what gun or modification, if they're taking single shots or controled bursts they are classified as a sniper. that doesn't mean their weapon is a sniper or that person is trained as a one. hence why if one shot or a controled burst is shot at someone where they cant see who fired them they will shout incoming sniper fire or somthing like that

Anything that fires with accuracy and range is considered a "sniper". The main thing that sets "sniper" weapons apart from the rest is the scope, which usually cost way more than the actual weapon itself. In this case it's obviously not a sniper, usa military snipers work in 2 men teams (sniper/spotter) covertly and apart from squads. However the thought that a machine gun can't be a sniper is wrong, even if the weapon wasn't made for it as long as the modifications (scope) allow give it a range to shoot

@stopdroplolAre you seriously saying this? You have no idea what you are talking about. So If I put a ACOG on M4A1 then it is automatically a sniper class weapon?? The main thing that sets sniper class apart from other is the barrel and how the barrel is mounted on the weapon. A M249, as pictured in this video, cannot and will not ever be as accurate as a sniper rifle or even a M4. They are used to put rounds down range and suppress the enemy. The optic, or as you say scope, is a Elcan M145. Not a scope as you put it.

@stopdroplolactually whiskey, indeed you are correct about the ACOG. but that is a POS anyway. the M249 is actually illegal to fire at enemy personnel, it is for vehicle suppression only.
