    tryptophan myth: The tryptophan in turkey really has little to do with someone feeling sleepy. It is more due to the large amount of carbohydrates and calories ingested leading to a large insulin spike. Plus, with all that food a lot of energy is just used to digest, lessening the blood to the brain
