The rider pulled into first place when moving around a couple corners. When he hit the straight away he hit it too hard causing him to pop a wheelie and wipe out.

WRONG!: you're all wrong! it was the first lap of a french endurance race.24hr i think at magny cours race track he looked behind him by looking under his butt-stupid thing to do. the weight transfer and lack of ability to judge balance when lookng the wrong way meant he couldnt feel a lightening load on the front wheel. frenchies!!!!!!!!

Incorrect Info: What the author wrote is not correct. This was an endurance race first of all and this was that particular rider's first lap out. This had nothing to do with showing off, popping wheelies, etc. The rider was out on his first lap and wasn't "settled" on the bike yet. He stood up to "adjust" himself and ended up wheelying. Still spectacular -- and now a thing of internet lore...
